Brian E. Butkus, MS, MSMSE, SMP
More than 20 years across research science, environmental services, hazardous materials, laboratory safety and advanced manufacturing.
Brian founded B² to help technical organizations solve the problems that appear where science becomes operations. His career began in environmental chemistry and hazardous materials, expanded into 15 years of research-safety program leadership at a major university, and now includes hands-on EHS leadership supporting R&D, pilot and advanced-manufacturing operations.
He is also a multidisciplinary research scientist with peer-reviewed work spanning life science, nanoscience, surface science, materials science and engineering. That combination allows B² to understand the experiment or process as well as the controls, exposure pathways, waste streams and operational risks around it.

Brian has developed and delivered EHS training for scientists, laboratory personnel and technical teams and has years of professional conference presentation experience. His professional-service background includes committee leadership and technical-program planning with the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA), including planning summer symposia and presenting over multiple years, as well as presenting for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).
